Frequently Asked Questions...................................................
What is Rapid Prototyping?
Rapid Prototyping refers to a quick process of creating 3d objects direct from computer files
What type of machine do you use?
We have a ZPrinter 450. It is fast and can output models in hours instead of days, and it also produces realistic coloring straight from the printer, no painting is required afterward.
What material does the printer print in? Is it fragile?
The ZPrinter 450 prints in a bisque-ish material. The model is extremely fragile when it comes out of the printer, but gains strength after it is sealed. Even with the sealant, you probably don't want to give you model to a 3 yr old child to play with.
What resolution and what colors does the machine print?
The printing resolution is 300x450 dpi, and produces a wide range of colors. Contact us for more information.

How detailed can a prototype be?
Actually, the ZPrinter 450 can handle some extreme detail... but keep in mind that the smaller the components the more fragile the model is.

What is the turnaround time?
For most projects there is a 5 day turnaround time, including shipping.
What file types are accepted?
We accept STL, VRML PLY, and 3DS file formats
What is the largest size/volume can you print?
The print bed allows up to 8"x10"x8". If you need a larger model, we can divide your 3D file into segments and print in sections that can be assembled after the pieces have been completed.
I don't have a computer file of my design. Can you create that for me?
Depending on the project we are sometimes able to help with created a 3D file. There is an added charge for this so contact us for more details.
I have a confidentiality agreement with my client, will you uphold confidentiality?
Absolutely, we understand the importance of confidentiality!
Can a model have moving parts?
Yes, your model can have moving parts. We will create the components, and you can plan on assembling it in some way for them to move by adding other materials, hinges etc.
Why is 3D Gamil the best choice for me?
We are not a huge manufacturing company. We are small and will know you by name and project, never just a project number.
Could my end price change from the quoted price I received?
In the contract that is signed before the process begins, there is a line that says that the final cost may be increased up to 10% based on any problems that may come up. If the cost is looking to go over that, you will be contacted for approval.
